Mahamudra, or Great Seal, refers to a path to enlightenment taught by the Buddha and transmitted through the spiritual lineage of Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, and Milarepa. Gampopa who lived in the 11th century brought together these teachings of Mahamudra into one five-fold path of enlightened motivation, deity yoga, guru yoga, Mahamudra, and proper dedication.

These teachings became the major approach to Mahamudra meditation for the Drikung Kagyu lineage and this book is a very readable translation of the text clarifying the Jewel Rosary of the Profound Five-fold Path by Kunga Rinchen. This book is not by Thrangu Rinpoche but is a Kagyu text on Mahamudra.
