It is often difficult to find high quality and reasonably priced Dharma photographs for Dharma practice with Thangkas costing several hundred dollars and internet photos having low resolution. Each photo below is in the public domain so it can be freely used. Enclosed is 8 by 10 inches photo accompanied by a smaller 4 by 6 inch photo of the same deity to keep in one's practice book and the set costs just $ 5.00. The quality of these photos are poor on a computer screen, while the actual photos are of high quality. If you are not happy with the quality of the photos, you can return them and we will reimburse you.

It is said that Chenrezig felt so much compassion for all the suffering in the world that his head broke into 11 pieces and he developed 1,000 arms to help all those suffering. He is depicted having 8 arms standing on a moon disk and 16 petaled lotus, with 11 heads and 1,000 arms each with an eye on them. This beautiful painting has all thousand hands which can't be seen on a computer screen. The 8 x 10 inch and 4 x 6 inch photos make one set costing $ 5.00.

Amitayus is a diety connected with long life. He is very closely connected to the Buddha Amitabha and is on a lotus throne, red in color, sitting in the vajra posture, with his hands in his lap in the meditation (zen) mudra and is holding a vase of long life amrita in his lap.

At the bottom are the two other long life deities who are White Tara on the left and Ushnisha Vijayya on the right. It is traditional for a family or practitioners of a monastery of a tulku to commision a thangka such as this to ward off obstacles and negative influences. Often the Amitabha practice is then incorporated into the practitioner's life.

Before reaching enlightenment, the Buddha meditated under the Bodhi tree for six weeks. When the Buddha reached enlightenment and was asked how he knew he was enlightened, he touched the earth and said, "Let the earth be my witness."

The Buddha is pictured as gold, holding his begging bowl in the left hand and touching the earth on the right. He is on a white moon disk and this is on a throne of lotus representing enlightenment, and the lotus is rising out of the waters. The Buddha was said to have a golden aura emanating from him which is why his body is golden.He is accompanied by his two closest disciples Shariputra and Maudgalyayana.

Chenrezig also known by his Sanskrit name Avalokiteshvara is the most popular deity in Tibet. He is the deity of representing compassion and his mantra is the famous: OM MANI PEDME HUNG. The Chenrezig practice is done every night by the children attending his school in Nepal. The practice has spread across the world and is practiced daily in many Buddhist centers.

Chenrezig is white in color and sitting in a vajra posture on a 16 lotus petal throne and a moon disk. he holds a wish-fulfilling jewel in two of his arms and a crystal mala (representing his peaceful nature) and a lotus flower in his other left hand. Above him are the Five Buddhas representing the five wisdom attained at enlightenment. Below him is Guru Rinpoche (Skt. Padmasambhava) in the Konchog Chidu position and to his right is White Tara and to his left is King Trisong Detsen. Guru Rinpoche, King Trisong Detsen, the Dalai Lama (not shown) are considered emanations of Chenrezig.

Tara is the most popular female deity in Tibet and there are actually 21 aspects to Tara. Green Tara is said to have arisen from the tears of Chenrezig. The Green Tara practice which is usually done early in the morning each of these 21 aspects are given. Green Tara is emerald green to represent abundance such as the growth in nature and her right hand is in the wish-granting mudra and the right hand blue upala flower. Unlike White Tara her right leg is extended to represents her willingness to arise and help others. This is a particularly beautiful print.

Manjushri

Manjushri is the embodiment of the wisdom of all the buddhas. He is golden in color and holds a flaming sword in this right hand and a lotus flower holding a book of the Prajnaparamita teachings on emptiness in his left hand. His sword cuts through all ignorance so that the true nature of phenomena can be realized. When Tibetan monks and other practitioners study they say the brief Manjushri prayer and recite his mantra which is DHIH DHIH DHIH repeatedly to gain clarity of their practice and study.

Thrangu Rinpoche says that all deities are very similar in that they devote themselves to helping sentient beings. But beings have many different propensities and karma, so the deities manifest in different forms.
The Medicine Buddha looks similar to the Shakyamuni Buddha touching the ground, but he is the color of lapis lazuli. In his left hand in meditation mudra he a bowl of medicinal amrita and in his right hand he holds a medicinal (myrobalan) plant in the giving mudra. This photograph shows the Medicine Buddha alone on a lion's throne.
